Vertec
Completes Module Contract
Two
fire-protected modules built by Vertec Engineering at a cost
of £2.5m,
which will eventually end up on a floating production vessel operating off
western Australia, will leave Aberdeen today.
The
modules, weighing 160 tonnes and 200 tonnes and measuring 13
metres and 17 metres in length respectively, will arrive at the
Jurong shipyard in Singapore in early October before they reach
their final destination at the Santos-operated Mutineer and Exeter
oil discoveries, offshore Western Australia.
Jack
Perry, chief executive of Scottish Enterprise, was at the quayside
yesterday as the modules were loaded. He said it was a great
example of expertise gained in Scotland being in demand world-wide. "In
today’s economy it is crucial for Scottish businesses to
be outward-looking, and companies such as Vertec are carving
the way for Scotland to be the most globally connected nation
in Europe".
